Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

The preview shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
